I'm a bit of a podcast hussy. I've been around the block, from Tim Ferris to Tony Robbins - household names in the personal development game. Please trust me when I tell you that there is nothing else out there like Jocko podcast. What makes it so good? Well, unlike most of the other "gurus" in the field, Jocko did not make a career out of interviewing others and then spewing back their knowledge for profit. That's not to say that he is above learning. Far from it. Jocko is a student, but he is also a leader who thrived in one of the world's toughest environments - the special forces community, and war. Men have literally bled and died to bring you the lessons that Jocko is teaching. These lessons are not drawn simply from his own experiences, but by digging into those of warriors that have come before him, either from literature or in interview on the show. The show has a heavy leaning towards the military, but don't be fooled - there are lessons here wether you are a soldier or a janitor. What Jocko teaches best is leadership, and this skill is needed to succeed in any walk of life, professional and personal. Jocko's co-host, Echo, is a soft-spoken dude who offers insights and perspective often lacking from military personnel. Like Jocko, Echo is eloquent and educated. The pair combine to form a duo that, due to their real relationship, can go deep on tough topics. One final note on this podcast - Jocko and Echo talk about jiu jitsu A LOT. So, if you don't already take part in that or any other martial art, prepare to sign up for classes.
