Listener Reviews

WWJD has a new meaning
In short, get after it.
Wednesday is Jocko Podcast day.
The Jocko Podcast is without a doubt my favorite podcast. I listen to the new podcast every week ASAP, before moving on to other podcasts that day/week. After reading Extreme Ownership (took me a week to finish and loved it ever since), I gited the book twice. One to one of my higher ups and one to a friend. Both of them loved the book. The book Extreme Ownership and the Jocko Podcast helped me in all I do. Coaching candidates, it helped me develop a better (working) relationship with my higher ups and it helps me leading my own company (a S&C gym). It also helps me get after my own goals.
Increases leadership knowledge while jacking up motivation in all life aspects
After reading "Extreme Ownership", I found the podcasts about 15 episodes in. After catching up over 2 weeks during ruck marches and cardio, I've spent the last 8 months patiently waiting for the weekly podcast. These have helped tremendously increase my preconceived notions of what actions should be undertaken by "hard" leaders, and have helped to expand my vocabulary whilst simultaneously improving my workplace relations with superiors, peers, and subordinates. Furthermore, since becoming a dedicated follower; I've gotten my younger brother on board and my 55 year old mother now "gets after it" as well.
Awesome show by a great crew
This podcast blew me out of the water and is one of my favourites. So many great lessons to learn from both Jocko and the books he reviews on his podcast. How to fight through real adversity, how to increase your capability, how to use your will to overcome obstacles and how to live. The combat stories definitely give a good perspective of what hard really is.
Addicted!!
My bro suggested I check this podcast out. To be honest, at first listen I wasn't really into it (just where I was at with my mindset) BUT a couple months later I decided to give it another go and now I am addicted!! The 2hr + shows are the perfect companion for my daily commute to work. Listening to it challenges me big time to do what I have to do to become a stronger more resilient man in all aspects of my life. Thanks guys!
Should be required listening for all leadership programs.
With so many "coaches", "motivational speakers" and "gurus" out there, it's so refreshing to listen to somebody who lives what he preaches. Just by listening to this podcast, I notice my behaviour making small changes, just by his example. Jocko gets up at 4:30 and I think, "I won't get up that early, but I will get up at 5:30". Jocko does 67 pull-ups, I push myself to do 15, 2 more than I usually can do. Jocko writes 1,000 words per day, I tell myself "I can beat him at this and do 1,100!" Every episode is thoroughly researched, and gives you a completely new perspective on things. Also, a salute to Echo Charles. I don't think the podcast would've worked as well without him. By having a tough but relatable guy on the show who eats donuts like the rest of us, it's much easier to connect with the material.
Good .
Jocko podcast will truly change your outlook on every aspect of life. Give it a try.
Pure Sugar Cane
Where do I start. Canadian and have never served in an armed forces of any sort. Yet I've had the most pure respect for those that have. Drawn to war movies, stories and survivors. My cultural background is a warrior nation, the Sikhs, and sacrifice is a honour and duty for our ancient warrior martyrs. These guys are the raw sugar, unprocessed pure. I've been listening on and off for about 6 months and the most recent December 7 episode inspired me to finally write a review. These guys could eat iron. Love it and blessed. You guys bring a very rare union of rugged real life stories of war yet you guys have a spiritual nature to your message. Thank you!

First class
Jocko's combination of literature, history, psychology and teamwork is absolutely riveting. Throw in some military humour from his guests or a funny anecdote to lighten the mood. The kind of podcast that will stir a range of emotions in you within the same episode. He has a great voice and hearing him read classic books is outstanding. I guarantee this podcast will positively influence your life. Get after it.
Awesome
I started listening to you after hearing you on the Stone Cold podcast and I always learn something when I listen. I also feel motivated to train and get oustside my comfort zone. Love your work!!! Be great to hear you on Chael Sonnens podcast as the 2 of you together would be really informative ande entertaining talking about training, motivation and accountability....
Just awesome!
I'm a former Royal Marine, and listening to these guys reminds me of being back in the Corps. Jocko destroys the myth that military leadership is all about command and control. He explains that it's about relationships, developing your people and driving high performance through through decentralised decision-making. His stories bring a lot of these points to life. I listen ever morning when I'm working out - and 'passing the first test of the day!'
The best podcast.
It's simply the best. Do yourself a favour and give it a listen, Jocko doesn't disappoint.
Best podcast out there
I have change my way of life Thanks to you both J&C
In my top 3 podcast!
Top stellar podcast which is a must listen every week. The life experience Jocko has had give him a unique set of skills and way of thinking. Good on Tim Ferriss for exposing him to the world
Great content
This podcast is a great listen for anyone.. each episode offers valuable insight for any person at any stage in life... Great work!
First Rate
A modern-day philosopher, of a sort, Jocko is perceptive and insightful and details the lessons he has learnt leading teams in the type of environment that would leave the vast majority - myself included - cowering and inept. Whilst clearly not a person you would wish to argue with (in a physical sense; I imagine he would make a great opponent in any civilised debate) the podcasts address a variety of issues and provide a refreshing dose of common sense advice. Dispelled my preconceived ideas on many levels. Highly recommended.
New favourite podcast!
Keep up the awesome work dudes much love from Melbourne, Aus
MIND-EXPANDING
I do not come from a military background. In fact, I have exactly ZERO first-hand experience of the military - but my job required me to do a bit of research on Navy SEALS for an upcoming project. Than I stumbled onto this Jocko Willink guy, a guest on Sam Harris "Waking up" podcast; a stroke of luck! "A former Navy SEAL commander discussing philosophy in-between recalling outrageously badass war stories? Of course I'll listen to that - it's part of my job!" Fast-forward a couple of months and here I still am, a rabid listener of the Jocko Podcast, reading more books than before, eating much cleaner than before, learning a new language, hitting the gym like Its 1999 again, and starting to understand that no amount of personal game-dev research will ever come close to define and capture what the real military life is all about, let alone what it's like to be a Navy SEAL... And that's fine! I'm still here, listening every week, along for the badass accounts of warriors long gone, contrasted in full color against Jocko's own war stories. Still here for the tough-love banter with co-host Echo Charles, and hear his "civilian spin" on the heavy subject of the day. Then, there's the occasional detour into the darkest corners of the human condition, which are absolutely impossible to ignore if you consider yourself to be intellectually honest. I came for the free research on Navy SEAL material, and stayed because of the trove of knowledge I found; the richness of experience, the logical thinking, the honest modesty, the integrity, the discipline and the willingness to share and expand on the responsibilities each of us have on ourselves and on others -- dude, you owe it to yourself to listen. I hope to have the occasion to shake both of these guys' hands someday, look them in the eye and thank them on the bar they have set so we can all get after it.
Duct Tape
The rawest, most motivational, change your life podcast on the interwebs. Jocko balances the darkness of the past and present with the light and GOOD of today and the future. You learn, you laugh, you cry, you get after it. You become a better person by implementing the extreme ownership tactics that the Jocko podcast elaborates on. Thanks Jocko and Echo for putting out such a consistantly phenominal podcast every week!
Motivation
Jocko is the new little voice in your head guiding you.
Truths spoken humbly and powerfully
Jocko Willink has a clear mission- speaking the Truth and making you reflect on what you need to own and do to be the best you can be, for the world you want us all to live in. This is not a sugar coated fluffy podcast. It will make you tear up, appreciate veteran sacrifice and build your grit. As a veteran, I love and recommend it for leadership, discipline and devotion to duty. As a human, I applaud bringing wisdom, intelligence and respect to our discourse. This is Leadership at its rawest. There is no other podcast in the same zone.
