Great start for my first listen
I have known about this podcast for awhile but with all the others I listen to, I just haven’t had the time to catch this one. I listened in specifically to hear Mike Durant’s story as I am a fellow Hawk pilot, and was waving my flag with my wife in the bleachers when he was repatriated from Somalia/Germany to Ft. Campbell and the USA. I really enjoyed listening to his perspective and Jocko’s questions. Great show. I will definitely have to make time for more.
I love my country…
…but her government is seemingly never short of ways to piss me off. This is an interesting story that I will be sure to share with my history students.
Excellent
This is my favorite podcast, interesting and informative!

Can’t Wait for Wednesday!
I’m so thankful that I was pointed to this podcast. Every Wednesday I learn from people who have experienced life/death struggles and have survived them. The life lessons shared/ taught here are lessons I wish I had in my youth. This podcast is the reason why I love Wednesdays! Thank You Jocko and Echo! Out!

Back tracking
After listening to the Joshua Chamberlain episodes, I listened to Episodes 45 and 48. At the end of the Wooden Leg episode, the warning around 2hrs about giving up little by little, a freedoms here, a freedom there. So much has happened since these episodes were made, and yet the warnings were even prophetic. I haven’t listened for even a year now and it’s hard to catch up on back episodes, but this podcast is so good, definitely gonna be giving even more attention.
Excellent!

Book suggestion/fiction
The ignorant will ridicule me for this but hear me out. Starship Troopers by Robert Heinlein. The movie made of this Classic was a criminal travesty and those responsible will have to live with that burden.Heinlein himself was a Naval Academy graduate who’s career was cut short by ill health. The water is deeper here than most would suspect. Even if you don’t cover it you should read it, if you haven’t already. Also thank you for covering Iris Chang’s The Rape of Nanking. Book and her life story, I will never forget either.

Jocko is the example of great great leadership. And now more than ever. We need solid leadership
Good content, but…
Jocko puts out really good content, and truly does open your eyes to many topics and situations. If you can’t swing a subscription to the “underground” content right now, however, don’t bother writing to the email address mentioned on the podcast. You won’t hear back. The free content is really good though.
My eye opener
Thank you for your time and experiences and your willingness to share. Someone once told me that you have to stand for something or you will fallow anything. Then I heard it in a country song. It has changed my life. I was a solid follower and very passive male. Athletic and strong but extremely passive. Your podcast helps me keep that on track. Thank you
Early review
I appreciate your service to the country and views on discipline and life, but I don’t like the anti-carbohydrate un-scientific views on diet that Jocko stated on episode 6. I have listened to about 3 episodes so far. A blended fruit shake is by no means bad for you, you need to have balance and nuance. Carbohydrates drive athletic performance, they aren’t “necessary”, but it is wrong to say “they are bad for you”. I love the idea of detachment, especially from “worldly” things and short term pleasures. It is interesting that I have often heard anti-carbohydrate talk from similarly minded platforms. So far seems like a good place for philosophical advice on toughness.
Tony’s Civil War Museum: The Podcast

SOG stories
