00 [SPEAKER_01]: This is the jockel underground podcast number two thirty four sitting here with echo trials. [SPEAKER_01]: We have questions from the front lines from the trenches and we will provide answers or recommendations or out of bare minimum courses of action that you can take to navigate through your challenges your issues and this little maze Well, let's get into it. [SPEAKER_01]: Let's get into these questions first question. [SPEAKER_00]: Jockel echo [SPEAKER_00]: I can't seem to get past severe medical trauma, PTSD as a kid, and it has crippled me with fear and I can't seem to defeat it. [SPEAKER_00]: I've been going to therapy, but it's not helping. [SPEAKER_00]: I've been going to church with my girlfriend praying, etc. [SPEAKER_00]: And I still just pace the floors with unrelenting horrific intrusive thoughts.
44 [SPEAKER_00]: I can't seem to control. [SPEAKER_00]: I cry a lot now, which is not like me and I'm completely overwhelmed. [SPEAKER_00]: I also have a lot of chronic health issues and I'm facing surgery that is sending me over the edge. [SPEAKER_00]: I was just throwing a Hail Mary to see if somehow I could talk to you guys through email maybe. [SPEAKER_00]: You guys are such mentally stronger than me. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a disgrace how weak the PTSD and OCD has [SPEAKER_00]: I guess I would be like one of those guys in Buds training that hit the panic button and lost all control. [SPEAKER_00]: I have a surgery coming up that I don't know how I'm going to face.
26 [SPEAKER_00]: I want so bad to kind of go just go or step. [SPEAKER_00]: Like Choco says, but the PTSD and OCD latch onto me and cripple me with fear. [SPEAKER_00]: I've been like this since I was a kid and I never felt safe so it's like it's and it's hardwired in my brain. [SPEAKER_00]: Hope to hear from you. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, man, that sounds rough, and that being said, it sounds like you're doing the right thing by getting help from professionals, right? [SPEAKER_01]: I'm certainly not a professional mental health expert by any stretch of the imagination. [SPEAKER_01]: And I think what really you need to remember here is that, [SPEAKER_01]: Therapy is not something that just works overnight right is a campaign not just a single battle it's not just an evacuation that you just get a shot no now you're good to go what you're facing is something that's very real and very difficult to deal with and it's something that I really have not dealt with and that's why I think you getting help from a professional is the path and it's the the most important thing to do [SPEAKER_01]: You know, one thing I can't say about your statement here is you should not feel Disgraced or weak because of the current situation that you're in, right?
49 [SPEAKER_01]: That's like if you break your leg and you feel like you're weak because you broke your leg. [SPEAKER_01]: It's like that's what happened These mental health issues like this are things that triple-odd people up [SPEAKER_01]: and you just happen to be the guy getting tripped up in one right now. [SPEAKER_01]: And just like any other severe health issue, it's going to be difficult to deal with. [SPEAKER_01]: right? [SPEAKER_01]: No one feels weak because they got cancer. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, no one feels weak because they got some other disease. [SPEAKER_01]: So you shouldn't feel that way at all. [SPEAKER_01]: This is going to be just like any other health issue that is difficult deal with. [SPEAKER_01]: The good news is, and this is pretty actually awesome news, is that there have been plenty of people that have gone through this [SPEAKER_01]: and made it out the other side.
41 [SPEAKER_01]: And God and control of their lives. [SPEAKER_01]: Then there's a bunch of, I mean, there's all kinds of therapies, right? [SPEAKER_01]: Exposure therapy and I move men and desensitization and reprocessing in neural focusing and there's medication that you can take. [SPEAKER_01]: And there's integrated care. [SPEAKER_01]: And there's all the other, there's a bunch of things that you can explore and you can look into [SPEAKER_01]: that will help move you down the path to getting through this. [SPEAKER_01]: So when you have the idea in your head that you just have to just step or go and that just step is going to go, go, bring you from zero to healed.
25 [SPEAKER_01]: That's not an accurate assessment. [SPEAKER_01]: That's like saying, I want to run a marathon. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm just gonna step and now I'll be ready. [SPEAKER_01]: Nope, that's totally unrealistic. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna, I'm gonna bench for 50. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna bench for 50. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm just gonna step. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm just gonna go and make it happen. [SPEAKER_01]: Nope, doesn't work that way. [SPEAKER_01]: It does not work that way. [SPEAKER_01]: And nor is that gonna work in the situation that you're in. [SPEAKER_01]: But. [SPEAKER_01]: what you do need to do is just step or just go in taking the small steps over time that will lead toward healing.
09 [SPEAKER_01]: So every day, you're gonna have to just step. [SPEAKER_01]: Every day, you're gonna have to go. [SPEAKER_01]: But you're not gonna just step and be healed. [SPEAKER_01]: You're not just gonna go and be healed. [SPEAKER_01]: You're gonna just step and make a little tiny bit of progress. [SPEAKER_01]: You're just gonna go and you're just gonna make a tiny little bit of progress and by the way, sometimes you're gonna go backwards. [SPEAKER_01]: Some days, you're going to go backwards. [SPEAKER_01]: This happens to everybody in every situation. [SPEAKER_01]: Trying to get stronger, you over-trained, or you get sick, or all of a sudden you went backwards. [SPEAKER_01]: You lost your gains. [SPEAKER_01]: It happens with businesses. [SPEAKER_01]: We do all this work to make progress and increase our profitability, and then we look up and we made a mistake, or something, the market changed and now we're upside down.
55 [SPEAKER_01]: What do we do that? [SPEAKER_01]: We get back up and we go again. [SPEAKER_01]: We just step again. [SPEAKER_01]: We just go again. [SPEAKER_01]: So that's the path that you're on. [SPEAKER_01]: You're on a path of consistency over decades. [SPEAKER_01]: Decades. [SPEAKER_01]: And where decades might sound daunting and so huge. [SPEAKER_01]: It's like the same idea of going through seal training. [SPEAKER_01]: When you hear some guys talk about going through seal training, they say, just make it through this thing that we're doing right now. [SPEAKER_01]: Just make it through the next 45 minutes, or however long they're going to stick us into freezing water for, just make it through that. [SPEAKER_01]: And then when you get done with that, we're going to put the boats on her head. [SPEAKER_01]: We got to go somewhere. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not sure how long it's going to be, but I'm just going to make it through that.
37 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm just going to take another step. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm just going to go right now. [SPEAKER_01]: And you look up in six months, and you're done with seal training. [SPEAKER_01]: And so it's the same thing for you. [SPEAKER_01]: You're going to look up in six months, and you'll have made some kind of progress. [SPEAKER_01]: And then what do you do? [SPEAKER_01]: You keep going, and over time, things will get better. [SPEAKER_01]: People have gotten through what you're suffering right now. [SPEAKER_01]: People have gotten through it, fully through it, fully through it. [SPEAKER_01]: I've known people that have gotten through this kind of stuff. [SPEAKER_01]: Now, there are 100% good to go now, and they were not. [SPEAKER_01]: They were far from that in the past. [SPEAKER_01]: So, keep taking that step on a daily basis, and things will get better over time.
24 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, a lot of times the all think of certain things where you're trying to physically improve or change the way, you know, you are or mentally whatever right anything where you have to kind of fight against your your say normal protocol of thinking or being or whatever. [SPEAKER_00]: I look at his like this escalator slow escalator that you're going the opposite direction. [SPEAKER_00]: So you're trying to go up the escalators coming down like kind of slow So you just like, hey, if you just take one step after the other and just put just enough effort to go slightly faster than escalators coming down And you do that one day you're not going to be at the top of that escalator one day just like I said like apparently you're not you're simply not going to knowing that means a lot It's a big deal because just like how you said it's like, oh, yeah, you think [SPEAKER_00]: like therapy for example right i this is from one hand just and that's a little some people they go to therapy and think oh i'll just go to therapy and problem solved but it's like no no therapy is kind of like a directional thing where you go one day they're going to start to and you got to put in that effort as well so i'm saying it's not like some magic pill or whatever [SPEAKER_01]: Have you ever been to therapy?
26 [SPEAKER_01]: No. [SPEAKER_01]: Do I tell you you're not sent to therapy? [SPEAKER_00]: No, no, no. [SPEAKER_01]: You got sent to therapy? [SPEAKER_01]: I think I want to say it was in 7th grade. [SPEAKER_01]: Might have been 6th grade though. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: And I wrote a poem. [SPEAKER_01]: And it was about death. [SPEAKER_01]: And I wrote a poem about death because it seemed cool. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And I wrote a poem about death and I had a picture of the grim reaper. [SPEAKER_01]: And under his sickle. [SPEAKER_01]: It was that was the pole. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: No, look what you're kid like let's face it Cool and so the poem was like about death and like it's coming to get you right this kind of thing and it was pretty cool, you know, kind of cool and then All of a sudden I got like called into the counselor and and you're like, you know, is it?
10 [SPEAKER_01]: How are you feeling? [SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, oh, good. [SPEAKER_01]: They're like, you know, have you been going through anything lately? [SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, um, not really. [SPEAKER_01]: They're like, well, and then they pull out the, the, the, the, the poem. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, I wish I still had it because it was pretty. [SPEAKER_01]: But she pulled out, I was like, you know, what is the meaning behind this, and I was like, it kind of looks cool, doesn't it? [SPEAKER_00]: You know, because even you know, what's the, you know, the Graham Reaper? [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, Graham Reaper. [SPEAKER_01]: It's like, what's that monster truck? [SPEAKER_01]: Grave digger. [SPEAKER_01]: Grave digger, hell yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: But why do you like Grave digger? [SPEAKER_01]: Is that a cool thing? [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, it is a cool thing. [SPEAKER_01]: That's why we like it. [SPEAKER_01]: When I got the Graham Reaper talking about death, let's face it.
53 [SPEAKER_01]: Even when you're in seventh grade, kind of cool. [SPEAKER_01]: So, that is a little excerpt of what we are doing on the Jocco Underground podcast.
